Gin Rummy for Palm OS
Download Handango

Description

Originally known as "poker gin", Gin Rummy started in Hollywood in the 30's where its fast play, luck and skill made it an excellent wagering game. The rules are easy to learn, and the game play is rich and rewarding. It's no wonder that Gin Rummy is one of the most popular two person card games today. Now Elastic Software™ has brought all the fun, luck and strategy to your Palm OS® handheld pda.

Game Overview

Elastic SoftwareGin Rummy is very similar to 'Gin' in that each player is dealt 10 cards and creates runs and sequences in their hand. Unlike Gin, a player can go out without having all their cards in sets or sequences. If a player's unmatched cards, called 'Deadwood', are worth 10 or less points a player may end the hand by 'knocking'. The player with the lowest deadwood wins the hand.

The richness of the game lies in the scoring which is completely unlike Gin. When a player wins a hand they get their opponent's deadwood minus their own. But the fun is in the other possible bonuses that are part of the game. Anyone who goes out with no deadwood calling 'Gin' will get 25 points. If one player knocks and the other player wins, the other player gets a 25 point bonus for 'undercutting' their opponent.

When a player makes 100 points and ends the game, additional bonuses are given to increase the stakes for wagering. 25 points are given out to each player for hands won, and 100 points are given to the player who went out. It is possible for one player to go out with 100 points though to lose to the other player due to number of hands won!!
